The GDPR is the new legislation covering the collection and processing of personal data in the EU. It will come into effect on 25 May 2018. The Government has confirmed that the GDPR will be implemented in the UK as it will still be a member of the EU at that time. The GDPR will replace the current Data Protection Act. Although many of the principles contained in the current Data Protection Act will remain, there are some new requirements.
